I was challenged to post for 7 days a Quranic verse and nominate 2 people everyday. Here is day 1. This is my favorite verse from the Quran. It has gotten me through many hard times. As a reminder, it kept me aware of my environment and constantly reminded me whatever I am going through. It will pass. The blessings will come. How do I know this? Because Allah has told me so. “With every hardship comes ease.”

Surah Mulk 67:15
He it is Who made the earth smooth for you, therefore go about in the spacious sides thereof, and eat of His sustenance, and to Him is the return after death.
15. Él es Quien ha hecho la tierra dócil para vosotros, caminad pues por sus confines y comed de Su provisión. A Él es el retorno.
Monday 6/20 was the 15th day of Ramadan. As I was driving to the masjid (Mosque, Mezquita) for prayer. I happened to look up and see the moon. It was so full and so beautiful and bright. It was almost as if I could reach out and touch it. It was just amazing, Subhan Allah. When you are in a spiritual state of mind you really take time to stop and smell the roses and really look at the beauty in your surrounding environment. It is truly amazing.
It was funny thought, one day I was looking at my calendar prior to seeing the full moon and I thought wow time is flying by we have out 2weeks to go. Then I saw the moon and it all clicked. WE ARE HALF WAY DONE!
At that moment I had to check myself right then and there. What have I been spending my tie one? have I been doing enough for the sake of Allah? and for myself spiritually?
By the half way point, one should be well adjusted to their fasting lifestyle. Usually, around this time in the morning I am not really hungry. A couple of dates, fruits and water I am good for the day. Around this time as Muslims, this is when we dig in and do more!. We do more praying, we give more sadaqah, we do more good deeds, we make extra duas. Around this time we realize our special friend is leaving, because at this time we have made this connection with Allah (God, Dios) because of our lifestyle change and in our hearts we are happier, we are at peace, we have more energy and we feel more fulfilled. It is such a wonderful feeling and knowing Ramadan is ending we become very sad and push ourselves to do more.
Have an awesome day and Thank You for allowing me to share my fasting day with you.
Tu Hermana en Islam
Yesterday was a struggle but today I feel so much better. I woke up with peace, love, thankfulness and clarity in my heart and soul. Today I am thankful for the people in my life and the love and support given to me!
Today I am happy and at peace with who I am. What I am doing with my life. Today I woke up with clarity in my mind, heart and soul. As I laid down last night, I couldn’t breath. My nose was clogged. I had sinus pressure. But as I laid down I remembered a Hadith about a man who in his heart forgave those people who hurt him. I told Allah I forgive those people who have hurt me.
Today I woke up light hearted and the only thing I can attribute this feeling to, is to this thought and prayer.
In Islam, we are taught that Allah loves those who ask him forgiveness. And he loves those who forgives.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.”
With Ramadan literally right around the corner, Forgiveness is one of the things we ask for while fasting and we learn to forgive those people who have caused use hurt and pain. But most importantly we learn to forgive ourselves!
Think about that and learn to forgive yourself. Have a great Friday everyone!
Remember you can keep up with my daily thoughts, prayers and inspirations on IG, Facebook and Twitter.
An artist from NY saw my pic on my personal #IG page. She thought it was interesting that I as boriqua and Musulmana (Muslim).
We had a great conversation about my back ground, where was I born, how long have I been Muslim, etc.
As we continued to speak she became even more intrigued with the conversation. Why? Many people assume that being Muslim means you are an Arab or that you married an Arab. It’s hard for some people to visualize Muslims in all walks of life, color, culture etc.
If you don’t know, Latino Muslims are the fastest growing community worldwide. Islam, the belief, the family life, community life, appeals to Latinos.
At the end of our conversation she wanted to use this pic for a gallery premier. Of course I said yes! And here are the results. I’m both honored and humbled to represent Islam in every way possible!
Thanks for reading!
