Quran Challenge day 2

Quran Challenge day 2.
This verse speaks volumes to me. We as humans want to believe Allah is never around. But that is not true Allah is every where! He will never leave us.

My Quran/Corán Challenge

I was challenged to post for 7 days a Quranic verse and nominate 2 people everyday. Here is day 1. This is my favorite verse from the Quran. It has gotten me through many hard times. As a reminder, it kept me aware of my environment and constantly reminded me whatever I am going through. It will pass. The blessings will come.  How do I know this? Because Allah has told me so. “With every hardship comes ease.”

Alhamdulillah!

Ramadan-My Reflection for day 23

Surah Mulk 67:23

23.Say: He it is Who brought you into being and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts: little is it that you give thanks.
23. Di: Él es Quien os ha creado y os ha dado el oído, la vista y el corazón. ¡Qué poco es lo que agradecéis!

Wow today I thought it would never end. I really thought I would not make it to maghrib. I was so sleepy at work and so hungry. I really thought I was going to pass out. But Alhamdulillah I made it to 5:30pm Yay me!

Yesterday I the pleasure of breaking fast (Iftar) with a wonderful sister. She is actually my sewing student. At first I did not want to go. I was just exhausted and really just wanted to go home and sleep. BUT then I remembered reading some where about keeping your word and keeping your promise. So I changed my mind and decided to go to my friends house to break fast (Iftar).

It was the best decision I made that day. I was so happy that I went. It was nice to pray with a wonderful group of women. It was nice to feel at ease and just relax. We all knew what we were there to do. Worship Allah (Ala, God, Dios) and fellowship.

The food was good, the atmoshphere was awesome. It was the perfect ending to a long day. Alhamdulillah! At the end of the day, breaking fast with friends made realize how important it is not to lock yourself off from the world. We has humans need to interact with others. It does something wonderful to your soul. And you can feel the re awakening of your soul. It is such a wonderful feeling.

Remember, when someone invites you over do not hesitate to accept. That interaction may be the thing your soul needs to wake up!

Thank you again for allowing me to share my day of fasting. Until next time have a wonderful night.

20.Or who is it that will be a host for you to assist you besides the Beneficent Allah? The unbelievers are only in deception.

After a long day of fasting it was nice to break fast with family and home made #arepas #tacos y #guacamole. And even though we are #boriquen we definitely love eating food from other Latin cultures.

We had a good chuckle when I told her I am constantly telling people, No I am not Mexican, Yes I am Boriqua, No tacos are not part of my culture. BUT I am from California EVERYONE eats tacos. Lol

My grandmother started off the taco craze! Then it was passed on to my mother. Or maybe vice versa. All I know is that Growing  up we ate tacos, arroz con gandules y Maduros. That was dinner for us. It was a staple!

My sister in law made the arepas and I finished making the tacos. So basically  arepa is a flat bread made from cornmeal. Water, salt , butter is added and then mushed together into a dough. My sister in law formed them into circles and grilled them until brown and then fried them. Usually people fry them. Then you cut them open and stuff them with whatever toppings you have. We had chicken, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce. They were so good! Alhamdulillah.

As we continued to cook and eat. I kept having the same thought. This is what Islam is about. Appreciating other people’s culture and food. And not losing who you are as a person. In Islam I can be Muslim and retain my culture and food. This is who I am and I am proud of it!

Now that I am talking of food I cannot help to think about my friends chicken and Molé. Que Rico!

Thank you for allowing me to share another day of fasting with you. I hope you enjoyed!

Ramadan day 15-The full moon marks the half way point

Surah Mulk 67:15

He it is Who made the earth smooth for you, therefore go about in the spacious sides thereof, and eat of His sustenance, and to Him is the return after death.

Monday 6/20 was the 15th day of Ramadan. As I was driving to the masjid (Mosque, Mezquita) for prayer. I happened to look up and see the moon. It was so full and so beautiful and bright. It was almost as if I could reach out and touch it. It was just amazing, Subhan Allah. When you are in a spiritual state of mind you really take time to stop and smell the roses and really look at the beauty in your surrounding environment. It is truly amazing.

It was funny thought, one day I was looking at my calendar prior to seeing the full moon and I thought wow time is flying by we have out 2weeks to go. Then I saw the moon and it all clicked. WE ARE HALF WAY DONE!

At that moment I had to check myself right then and there. What have I been spending my tie one? have I been doing enough for the sake of Allah? and for myself spiritually?

By the half way point, one should be well adjusted to their fasting lifestyle. Usually, around this time in the morning I am not really hungry. A couple of dates, fruits and water I am good for the day. Around this time as Muslims, this is when we dig in and do more!. We do more praying, we give more sadaqah, we do more good deeds, we make extra duas.  Around this time we realize our special friend is leaving, because at this time we have made this connection with Allah (God, Dios) because of our lifestyle change and in our hearts we are happier, we are at peace, we have more energy and we feel more fulfilled. It is such a wonderful feeling and knowing Ramadan is ending we become very sad and push ourselves to do more.

Have an awesome day and Thank You for allowing me to share my fasting day with you.
