Ramadan day 11-Asking for Forgiveness

Surah Mulk 67:11

فَاعْتَرَفُوا بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِّأَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be (forgiveness) from the inmates of the burning fire.

11. Y reconocerán sus faltas. ¡Fuera con los compañeros de Sair!

Alhamdulillah another day down. The day was long but Allah showed his mercy by allowing me to stay busy and to keep my mind off the pains of my stomach. These same pains are here to remind me to be thankful of the things and food I have. 1. Someone in the world will not have food to eat today. 2. Someone has died today and will not have the chance to to repent for their sins. So today I am hungry and I want food BUT I am happy to be here ans feel the pain in my stomach. Atleast I can ask Allah to continue to forgive me and shower me with his mercy. Alhamdulilah

Thank you for sharing this day of fast with me.

Ramadan Day 8- Mercy for all

img_9296

Day 8 was hard. My weekend sleeping schedule is way different than my weekday schedule. I felt very sleepy it was still a good day. The hardest part is being thirsty. All I could think about are those in the world that will go without water and food. As I broke my fast I was very thankful for the small blessings in my life.

I pray Allah gives those who are homeless and without ease in their hardship Ameen

This is what Ramadan is about! Mercy for all.

Ramadan day 5, a day of Mercy

Another day has passed and I find myself wondering if I am doing enough with my time during the day.

So many people look at me funny when Ramadan comes around. They cannot understand or maybe comprehend going all day without food and water. It really blows their mind.  BUT as I was looking at the calendar we really do not have a lot of time left to really find our connection with our soul and with Allah.

Now is the time to dig deep and recommit ourselves to our relationship with the creator. With Allah.

With the passing of Muhammad Ali and so many others. We do not know if we will be here in 30 days let alone know if we will see another Ramadan. During this time we have to ask ourselves are we doing enough?

On day 5 I pray Allah accepts our fast and accepts our duas. And increase our love for him and allow us to reconnect with him. Ameen.

Have a good day of fasting familía

Day 4 of Ramadan

Day 4 of Ramadan is here….I have the sweetest daughter ever. She really loves to cook. She has been getting up for the last 4 days and cooking for everyone.  Which is awesome for me, since I have been sick. It’s one less thing I have to think about in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow I will share a few recipe’s we have been using for our fast.

I have really enjoyed our early morning family get togethers. This time gives us the opportunity to share our thoughts on fasting, life, things we have read in the Quran. The family time is priceless and so memorable.  As we spoke about our fasts today I realized that maybe I need to do some teaching at home about Ramadan to my children. We all need a refresher course once in a while and today right before breaking our fast we will discuss some facts about Ramadan. As I was thinking of what to discuss  made a short list of facts I wanted to share with you as well.

Ramadan day 3

Day 3 is here! Each day as Muslims we read the Quran. Some people read each section or juz a day. There are 30 juz in the Quran. I decide along time ago that was to stressful for me and it was stoping me from enjoying my Ramadan. So I decided that I will only read what I can. This year I set my timer and I read for 15mins. Usually in the morning.

Today as I was reading. My mind began to think about how quickly my life has changed, for the better that is. Last year it was just me and my kids. Last year after Ramadan I was blessed with a husband and additional family members. So we are a blended family. Even though there has been some challenges I am so blessed and happy to be with a wonderful and have more beautiful children to spice up my life. I was thinking how our lives change from one Ramadan to the next.

We are still in the first ten days and during these 10 days we ask for mercy.

I pray Allah continues to shower me and my family with his love and mercy and continue to bless us as a family. Ameen.

Thank you for sharing this day with us.

My Ramadan weekend

img_9215-1img_9216

This was the first weekend of Ramadan. Usually more people come out on the weekend and this past weekend was no exception. It was wonderful to see friends and spend some time with them. When I walked in and heard the recitation of Quran. It was so sweet and melodic. I instantly felt the connection between my heart and the Quran. I was really moved, almost to tears. As I listened my mind drifted to people who are no longer with us. I said a small prayer for them. It really made me think about how from one Ramadan to the next we do not know if we will see it. I was so grateful to be there.

7 days into fasting you really have to prepare your mind and soul. This past weekend was the first time I felt moved to tears in a very long time.

Insha Allah for the rest of the week we will make it to the masjid, pray next to our brothers and sisters. And Thank Allah for having one more Ramadan together.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful fast!

First day of Ramadan 1437

Bismillah

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu familía

Ramadan is upon us. I pray that the prayers and fast of this month will be accepted. Ameen

I am totally excited about Ramadab this year. I am in a different mind set. I feel less stressed and more connected to Allah. I already have a plan for this month as far as Suhoor. We will stick to a high protein diet. Spiritually as a family we will strive to make all of our prayers together and read the Quran together. Insha Allah as as family we will come closer to Allah together.

Just a small side note I want to share. Ramadan is divided into 3. The first 10 days we ask Allah for mercy (1-10). The second 10 days we ask Allah for forgiveness (11-20) and the last ten days we ask Allah for protection from the hellfire (21-30).

Thus in the beginning our prayers will consist mainly of asking Allah for his mercy!

May Allah (God) bless all those who are fasting and accept their prayers and fast. Ameen

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu

Islamic Months and their History

Bismillah

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu

Ramadan 1437 will begin in a few days. Again this year I plan to post duas every day along with my personal reflection of each day.

This year I wanted to share some helpful information pertaining to the months of Islam. I find this very interesting, I always wanted to know what each month meant but it was always hard to find, due to the fact that most information about the meaning of the names of the months were in Arabic.

Growing up I knew some of the months, especially Ramadan, Shawal, Dhul Hijja. Only because during the month of Ramadan we fast. During the month of Shawal we have an huge celebration to mark the end of fasting and during the month of Dhul Hijja is when we make Hajj to the sacred holy place Mecca.

I found this infographic on Pinterest and I thought I would share some basic information to kick off the month of Ramadan.

Check back for more information.

As always have an awesome day!

Felíz Eid 1436

It’s that time of year again! Ramadan has come to a close and we are celebrating the completion of 30 days of fasting. At this point in time everyone is celebrating, eating and or sleeping in. As the body has rights over us and we have pushed it to beyond its natural boundaries to see what it can really do!

Now it’s time to rest, rehydrate the body and restore the nutrients!

God willing (Dios Complaciente) I will blog about my experience later. Now to rest and eat!

¡Felíz Eid!
